Found some powder at Graf &sons website and was wondering if there is any difference between the two brands. They offer both and was wondering if anyone has tried it and has an opinion. The price difference is about 50 cents a pound so it's the same cost for all intents and purposes. Has anyone tried this stuff? I have been shooting Goex with good results, so no need to change, but you all know how it is with trying different things out of our guns.... Thanks.

Lonegun1894,

I have shot both in 2ff & 3fff. I
found that

the Graf powder(which by the way is Mfg by Schwarzpulver out of Germany and
imported by Schuetzen Powder for Graf & Sons) is
just a tad harder to clean up after. Very little
difference,if any in my groups. I will stick with
Goex as long as I have it, but I would not
hesitate to use the Graf powder in it's absence.
Just my opinion and I am sure you will get others.
BTW the Graf folks are great to work withIMO
snake-eyes :hatsoff:

Different strokes for different folks I guess and results may vary, but I disagree, Graf cleans just as easily as Goex, if not better.

As to performance, after trying the Graf, goodbye Goex.

The Graf house brand is made by Schuetzen and is exactly the same as the Schuetzen BP.

Four pound minimum order from Graf (free shipping to your door) for any brand BP, $20.00 Hazmat fee up to 50 lbs.

It is a touch hotter than Goex, but not much. It produces a touch more fouling, but again not much. The fouling is softer than that produced by Goex and has red flakes in it. If I was picking one based on target shooting, I would pick Graf's. If I was picking one for hunting, I would pick Graf's. There really is not all that much difference, but my guns just liked the Graf's powder a lot. I did not try the 2f, so I can't compare it. Only the 3f.

Like many others I have settled on using 3F for all calibers in all guns, just seems to work out much better.

IMHO, no present BP comes close to the old shiny Dupont holy black. 20-20 hindsight disease aside, if I had only knew what then, when it was plentifully available.
