Grain to oz conversion?

Not sure where to put this.
I am trying to work up a workable load for bird(turkey) hunting.
Use volume measure for bp.
This is given in grains.
How do I convert grains to oz as most of the shot
used is given in Oz. Example 1&1/8 oz.
Any help?

7000 grains = 1 pound.

Here are some conversion factors and information for you.

There are 7000 grains = 1 pound
or 437.5 grains = 1 ounce

100 grains volume of FFg Goex = 100 grains weight

Given this, the rule of thumb for shotgun loads is to use the same measure for the powder and the lead. The difference in the weight of the lead over the powder makes the difference. Remember that the above gr-lbs converstions are for weight not volume.

I don't have a shotgun. I read this in some of my BP books.

Depends on the gun. Some might like equal volumes, many don't. My friends and I have settled on 1 and 1/2 more shot than powder, by volume.

Shooting an 80 gr FFG load, and 120 gr equivalent of shot. That said, each gun is different, so's ya gotta experiment to find the right load.

I see. Just like working up a rifle load.
I haven't entered into the realm of shotgunning yet but I hope to someday.

If using an adjustable powder measurer to measure the shot
70 gr= 1 oz
80 gr= 1 1/8 oz
90 gr= 1 1/4 oz
100 gr = 1 3/8 oz
110 gr= 1 1/2 oz
120 gr= 1 5/8 oz
