Yes, that is what it is for. And it take a Particular model peep for the Lyman GPR. It has a special shim included with the sight with you order it for that rifle. The one for the T/C Hawken is the same rear sight, but does not include the necessary mounting shim & will not mount properly without it on a GPR.

If you like shooting peeps, the Lyman peep is awesome on a GPR. I was shooting 1" groups with mine at 100 yards over & over with that peep sight. Before the peep I was shooting 2.5" to 3" groups with it at 100 yards. It is awesome for target, but I don't like them to hunt with as I cannot see them well at early morn & dusk when deer hunting.

Be award of the front dovetail for the globe sight for the Peeps is a metric sized dovetail, so if you order one, be sure to order the correct one as others won't fit.
