Howdy everyone, looking forward to learning more about muzzleloaders and building loads for them. I’ve owned and fired Civil War era rifle-muskets for several years and I‘ve recently purchased a 1st Land Pattern Brown Bess….my first flintlock. I also own an 1836 Johnson pistol that is really fun to shoot

I've never been able to figure out, why one of the big mfgrs. making replicas, never copied this simple, un-complex, handsome, iconic firearm! H. Aston, Johnson, the whole bunch. A pair of these were on the cover of an American Rifleman in 1962, which I think I still have, and the depiction was one of the images that got me into this whole life-long hobby! Thanks for you neat, clear photo! These do come up at auction now and again, I've seen ones that were clean and shootable; maybe I can still score one!
