This is a great forum! I've been lurking for a couple of weeks but finally decided to put my big boy pants on and contribute.

I'm as green as they come when it comes to muzzleloading and black powder. I just recently bought my first rifle (a .50 cal stripped Pedersoli Kentucky Percussion). My father is a long time hunter and gun guy, but I never really took to it. I'd periodically meet him at the range to shoot, but beyond pointing his 9mm down range and squeezing off a few, I didn't get too involved.

Until he talked me into coming out to the OVPR Spring Rendezvous a month or so ago. I was blown away by what I saw and experienced in just may afternoon visit. Pictures of the day can be seen here: OVPR Spring Rendezvous Pictures.

I'm pretty obsessive compulsive, so I try to focus my tendencies into worthwhile endeavors. So, I've begun to slowly wade into the buckskinning pool. The research and whatnot required to be PC grooves with my personality pretty tightly. Plus it's something else I can do to connect with my Dad.

In my other life I'm the operations manager for an industrial supply company. I maintain the computers and do my best to keep things moving generally in a positive direction despite the efforts of my staff. I'm also into photography quite seriously (which is how I stumbled into this stuff to begin with). I'm in my early thirties, single, and pretty well happy with life.

I'm looking forward to soaking up all I can here. This seems like a great place to hang out, and I hope you guys don't mind me sitting around your fire for a spell.

Gates, were you there? Did I happen to get any pic's of you? Please do pass on the pictures to Joe and tell him if he has any use for full sized versions I'd be happy to forward them to him. I had a chance to talk with him for a few minutes as he was working... a very nice guy who can wield a heck of a hammer.

Welcome to the web Freizer. BTW, I always thought Richmond was an ugly city. I was in a car going NB on 95 from Charleston and to see Richmond from that highway is very uncomplimentary. First, the stinking sewer plant then the cold gray skyscrapers. Nothing special I thought and I wish the Corn-feds did a better job of burning it before the Yankees got there. :relax:

Then a couple of years later I went to Richmond to do research. I was at the Museum of the Confederacy and wandered around a bit. The old City Hall is gorgeous as is the old Capital building. The Egyptian Temple at the Medical School/Hospital is befitting the city. Then there's the hill with the Soldiers/Sailors/Marine monument and Chimborazo Medical Museum. Spectacular. Monument Blvd and its surrounding homes is nothing to sneeze at either and Battle Abbey is stately. Great looking city and I wish I had more time to do research there. Luckily, someone in Richmond is suppose to dig out a file for me at the VHS. What a place to be. :hatsoff:

Richmond has her moments... once you take away the crime, the pollution, and the corrupt city officals. :) Thankfully, I actually live in an outlying county.

Next time you're in town, look me up.
