I have my share of custom flintlocks. I have never been asked to send half or even less of up front money by any of the builders I used. All of them did ask for the lock, stock, and barrel of my choice to be sent to them. Never once did any ask for money till the rifle was built an ready to come to papa. All of them gave me a target finish date but made no promises. All finished within a month maybe two at most of the target date. My advise to anyone considering a build is check out your builder online an if there is any complaints odds are you will come across them especially if its a habit thing with them. Better yet stick to the names that you hear about turning out nice guns in your price range. They are not rip off artists being they are too busy turning out guns As far as mr Davis goes I have seen quite a few threads saying the same thing.
