Oh. That's a shame. If he doesn't take it you'd better check it out well.

I presume it has progressive depth rifling...

Well if you don't 'need' either one then I'd get the Walker. I miss my old Dragoon. Never should have parted with it. There is an older fair-good condition Walker clone in my local pawn shop I have been thinking about off and on for a few months.

The pistol is more shots and more show off potential at the range.

The rifle is at a damn good price and would be hard to turn down.

Perhaps you are aware of the fact that there are the original British made Parker Hale's and there are Italian Parker Hale's?

The British guns were made in the 1980's using the original Enfield guages.

After they went out of business, the tooling was sold to the Italians who continued to make the reproductions.

The original guns have "PARKER HALE LTD" between two concentric circles stamped into the right side of the stock butt. This is done on the 3 band, the 2 band and the Musketoon models.

I don't believe the Italian guns have this marking on the guns they produce.

IMO, the price you mentioned is quite good for the Italian versions if they are in very good condition.
The price for a real British made Parker Hale Enfield in very good condition is exceptional.

The price for either of them if they were left uncleaned or poorly maintained is marginal to say the least. If the guns bore is badly rusted/pitted it is too high.

When a man with a .45 meets a man with a rifle, the man with a pistol will be a dead man. That's an old Mexican Proverb...and it's true.

Or a 1960's Olive-Oiled Spaghetti Western proverb.

As true as it may be let's not forget how that turned out for poor, glistening, Ramone in the end...

Gosh they were great movies but I can't remember Clint Eastwood's character's name...

To no one in particular, but this reminds me of a story about a Sheriff who wore his side arm to a function and a lady asked him if he was expecting trouble. His response is classic. "No Ma'am if I was expecting trouble I would have brought my rifle".

lol the man with no name series  I sense sarcasm

'lil bit. I do know his name in The Man With No Name Trilogy though: Joseph Manco.

In the one above the undertaker there calls him "Joe" a few times. In another he is called "Manco."

I have been told the latter is just a nickname though meaning "lefty" in Spanish because he basically only used his left hand, usually keeping his right hand down and free for his gun... but I don't believe that. I think it was in at least the one where Lee Van Cleef is trying to identify who "the other" bounty hunter is and the Sheriff shares his name... I think.

It all depends on the range and the circumstances.
You never heard of Sgt. York?

:rotf:
Your asking a longrifle enthusiast from North Alabama if he has ever heard of old Alvin?

I sho nuff have, he's one my heroes.

Corporal York used both his 1911 .45 and his M1917 Enfield to "Stop them guns".

To answer the OP's question clearly, I would prefer the rifle. Since I do do a lot of hunting, I would have more use for the long gun. Now if the OP is more of a recreational shooter, it's a toss up IMHO.

This one has the butt stock marking. IT may be moot, though, as the owner is holding it for a friend to look at. It may not be available any more.
