I have posted these pictures a bunch of times before; I made a simple try stock to get my exact measurements, I transfer these measurements to each of my builds. I can say first hand that there is nothing like a gun that fits you perfectly.

This try stock looks pretty cheesy but gives exact measurements. I close my eyes, shoulder the stock and adjust it until the sights are perfectly aligned when I open my eyes, for me that is 13 1/2" pull and 2 3/4" drop. I add 1/4" of castoff to my builds that makes the fit that much more perfect.

If I had not set my rear sight up forward when I was 50, I would not be able to see it today.
I know several older gents that have made a new dovetail and set the rear sights forward.
I have seen some original B.L. with more than one dove tail . Bad eyes are not new to todays shooters.

Nice idea! I am one of the fortunate people. I can pick a rifle right off the rack and it fits me, as long as no one has altered it in length and drop.

I always liked it when I could have a customer could come to the shop when I was fitting a rifle or fowler for them. I would have them shoulder the gun with their eyes closed. When they opened their eyes, if they weren't aligned properly with the sights, I would start making adjustments.

A great way to do it
