Gun flints in stock Stonewall Creek

Could the native flint have been heat treated? I want to Knapp gun flints myself. So to heat, or not. That is my question.

There are many good folk here that knap their own flints and chert. They may be able to answer your questions.

How does chert compare to English flint? I have never tried it.

Chert will produce sparks on steel. It won't last as long as English black or French Amber flints.

I went to the website and they had some in stock but the price was almost double TOW which was selling the 5/8 x 3/4 for 2.20 each and they were selling theirs at 4.00 each.
