Would like to build some kind of gun rack to better store my long guns. Does not have to be a fine piece of furniture just something I can put 6-8 guns in standing up.

Nothing like a good gunrack to keep one's LRs from damage.

I prefer to rack my LRs horizontally.....especially if a less viscous rust inhibitor is used.....it'll collect at the bottom.

Below is 1 of 2 gunracks that do a good job...they're both built into the wall and are completely out of the way....Fred

Google 'free woodworking plans'. A bunch will come up where you can search for gun racks. Or just search 'woodworking plans'. You will find more they are not always free.

I saw an interesting gun storage unit in an Amish store south of Chicago.

It looked like a full length mirror found in bedrooms. When you slid the mirror to the left it was a gun case.

Guns were totally hidden and out of sight.

That's a real nice setup ya got there Fred. I like. Wish I could do that. Around here you either keep 'em in a safe too heavy to be carted off or else the tweekers will be trading 'em off to the dope dealer for ya.

After losing 13 firearms in a break in, all have gone into 1000 pound safes or very hidden storage which cannot be detected, nothing out to be seen.

Can't seem to get a legal season on the b****rds, but I'm locked n loaded 25/8/366. One in the truck, one under the pillow, and an out of sight short barreled 12ga pump loaded with 00 buck in the living room. Let'em bring it

What is that???????????????????????????????????

Guess that means a person never/ever leaves their abode.

These gunracks are in the basement and not seen by many. I only have 3 personal MLers that are used for hunting....the builds don't stay for long as they're sold very quickly.

Too bad guns have to be kept in safes and can't be readily viewed....Fred

I have a relative, can't even reveal which city, who has close to the ultimate safe. In the master bedroom is a floor to ceiling mirrored wall. But, if you know, it opens to reveal a vault type steel door. Inside the door is a concrete room reinforced on all sides, top and bottom, with it's own foundation and ventilation system. And, in the room is a very large high-quality gun safe. Storm shelter, panic room and gun workshop/vault all in one. My faith teaches me to not be envious, but, have to admit, I backslide some when I see that room.

Both built from materials on hand zero cost but a little time.

One of the largest arguments my father and I got into was on a Sunday before Thanksgiving.

It was about to leave firearms at the ranch or take them home since we were coming back on Wednesday night.

I took mine, he left his, some of his were from his childhood. His were stolen, I have mine.

Lesson learned.

Well if you can't figure it out I suppose I can spell it out for you.... 25 is an extra hr in each day 8 is an extra day in every wk and 366 is an extra day in ea yr. In other words, I'm ready absolutely anytime they are. They don't just break and enter while you're gone around here, they like to home invade you armed to the teeth, and yes, I leave home anytime I take a notion because all of my goodies are in a 1500 lb safe.

I totally agree, but it is the way of the world in a lot of places. I've got Tacoma on one side of me thirty mins away, and Olympia thirty in the other direction. Tacoma is the worst by far, but they come here from Oly too, as well as the local tweekers, and they'd steal the silver dollars off of their dead mothers eyes.
