Saw a beautiful Whitworth today at the Gettysburg show. It was P53 style and fitted with a tang target sight and beautifully checkered wood. A bit out of my league at $11,000 it was nice to examine and admire for it's noteworthy place in history along with Joseph Whitworth's precision manufacturing.

Yea they were the state of the art in their day. Prices for origonals are way out of my range.

That would be a dream rifle for me. A real Whitworth from back in that time is just an awesome rifle to have.

I saw an original Whitworth in the original case including all the accessories priced at $11K, that was in Charleston 3 years ago.

The Whitworth Research Project now has data on over 700 known Whitworth rifles. Please get in touch if anyone has an original or spots one at shows etc. Need to record serial number and get full length photo plus details of lock, sights, and markings if at all possible.

Thanks,

David
