My son(13) is now a BP junky and has put a ML on his Christmas list and I have clerance from the boss to get him a gun As he spent all of his summer making cabnets with me.I need one in left hand.It has to be flint thow and he sde he would take a T/C or other "clone" but he wanted flint.I would like to get it in left hand if I can .Evry time we shoot he has to put up with right handed guns And L-O-N-G length of pull because he has only shot my guns.I have set the price range to about $400.00.I considerd an In-line and he sed only if it is in flint(he hangs out here to much)Any suggestions are apreceated.I am thinking .50 cal as he has shot .44 mag hand gun with no problems and knows his gun safty in and out.

Quickest off the shelf southpaw .50 cal flintlock is the Lyman GPR.

Try it first... the LOP on a GPR isn't all that long... he might be okay. If you can avoid cutting it down, he won't want to quit using it later when he's older and bigger.

Anyone know what the standard LOP of a GPR is off the top of their head?

I have a percussion south paw Lyman GPR. Go for the flinter! I am not too big, and the stock fits me well. You'll get a very accurate and period looking rifle (it is designed after Jim Bridger's Hawken rifle in the percussion version). The price is about $380.00 at Midsouth Shooters Supply. As tis thing is quiet heavy (around 10 lbs), your son has to shoot it from a rest anyway, and the length of pull is not that important in this case. AND it has a set-trigger! Makes it a fine target-rifle!

You can't do better!

Have a Lyman GPR and a Lyman Deerhunter both left-handed, flinters...your boy might find the deerhunter more pleasant to tote and shoot...Hank
