Mmy point in my prior post was even with modern choking, the tighter chokes dont throw single projectiles very good. Paul mentioned FULL choked jugged guns as test cases for shooting round balls and that is not a fair test, even with modern choking. Although the "choking" is different, expansion and constriction are occuring.
Lite Mod. or lesser choke seems to produce the better single projectile patterns in both modern and jug chokes.

Roundball, thanks of clarifying the differences in the choking. I assumed those in the thread knew the differences. :hatsoff:

Paul, Maybe you could come to the shop sometime and give me some lessons in your back boring, honing, and lenthening forcing cones techniques.

Paul, I was using a felt wad over the powder and an overshot card over the ball, now mind you these are range conditions. I'm not sure how the overshot card will work in the actual hunting field over a roundball. It didn't seem to lead the barrel, but I was cleaning between shots. Happy hunting boys!

ULTRA MAG Made in Japan is what is stamped on the barrel. I had Cains Muzzleloading check the barrel and it I think was .70 cal. move it around and .72 cal. They said they think they were sold back in the 70's at Dept. stores.
I wanted to get some over shot and over powder wads and 16 Gauge wads and over shot cards fit just right. Just a little snug but should work fine. A friend had this muzzleloader in his garage for a few years and was a little rusty. I took to the muzzleloading shop and had them look at it and they said it did not look as it if had been shot. I cleaned it up and to be honest the man I got it from did not believe it was the same gun. Barrel inside is very smooth and clean.

Paul I'm using a 640 round ball and .018 patching with the patches lubed with beeswax and olive oil. It's warming up here in NY so I might start playing with the roundball again.OH BOY 3 more weeks till turkey season, can't wait

OK Gang,

This post started out asking a simple question..... can you give me the contact info for someone to jug choke a barrel.

We have digressed into so many personal dissertations and opiniions, that we have totally left the original idea behind. :bull:

Start another post already, and let the guy get on with his life. :surrender:
