How is the forestock attached? [I can see the two pins] Are the pins just cross drilled thru the bottom of the barrel? Anybody have a picture of thr barrel and pin holes?

Are the ram rod thimbles screwed or soldered on to the barrel?

I am just trying to build one a little simpler than my dovetailed lug and bolt system.

Thank You,

Yes, the pins go through the stock and then the barrel. The ram rod thimbles are soldered on. I thought another solution for the thimbles would be to drill and tap for to fit the T/C thimbles.

I noticed that when I removed the under barrel bar on my GM IBS barrel it was drilled and tapped.

Thanks Gmww,

Drilling and pins will work fine on a 1" 50 cal, but I am not sure there is room on the smaller 7/8s 50 cal.

My next large caliber is going to have a full under lug with the thimbles mounted to it.

Here is a picture of my 73 cal with a short lug to save weight.

Or maybe I should just forget the forstock and go with the brass tube. but I really like the look and feel of wood!

Just forward where the photo is cutoff, is a small screw with wax in the hole. Zephyr uses a small screw instead of a pin and they don't recommend messing with it. I like your method of a dovetail lug for mounting the fore arm. Mike

I took some photos for you. The barrels that come with the gun are 15/16". These photo are from the .50 cal.
Personally, I like your system. Very nice!

I see many underhammers pictured without a front stock. I like wood too. Just don't feel right not to have it.

Mike,

Are the bolts cross ways like in gmww's picture? Two from each side? Small flat heads, I would guess?

Thanks for the picture!

Bruce, yes the screws are across the barrel, just like the photo of the pin hole (posted by gmww). The ramrod on the Zephyr goes to the end of the forearm, but does not break thru the wood. I still like your mounting system better. Mike
