Well, I will take it! Our side of the state has to have 3 points up, brow tines don't count. When he came out into the field, I knew I was taking the shot. Antler fell off at point of impact, so I had to back trail the blood to find the antler. He went about 40 yards. 50 Caliber Investarms Hawken. 320 grain cast R.E.A.L. bullet. 80 grains 3F. My boys and I cast the bullets together, and lube them with a homemade mix of rendered bear fat and beeswax (from my own bees). =)

That is really cool. I have never had one shed after I shot it. Had he already shed the other antler before you saw him?

Well done! I shot an 8 point on the first Tuesday of buck season with an unmentionable. I grabbed the one antler to roll him over to field dress and it popped off in my hand. The other antler dropped off after I rolled him down the mountain side. I guess he was getting ready to shed them soon.
