My original post on "buck and ball" seems to be lost somewhere, but anyhoo, I tried the .32 cal balls on top of and underneath the patched .490 ball with no real luck. Some real wierd patterns was the only result. So I guess buck and ball loading in 50 cal rifled barrels are likely a loosing proposition. Tried the .490 patched balls alone with great results. Also tried some hardcast .44 flat nosed bullets in in sabots (UGG!). Those shot fine as well. I am very happy with my 'parts gun' that I've put togther. Took awhile but it was worth it.
 
Didn't think you would have much luck with buck and ball in a rifled barrel, but hey, at least you got some shooting in and found out that is not the way to go.
 
I'm going to try to post some pics of my little project if I can figure out how to do so.
