does it really matter where your hammer/cock sits in half cock position?

I feel like mine's a bit farther back than what would be normal......but then again it's sole purpose is safety right?????

any comment welcomed.

As long as it's a solid half cock and will NOT drop the hammer if you pull the trigger, it's serving the purpose. Pull the lock and visually verify the sear sits positively into the tumber half cock notch.

My apologies. Wrong thread. No it doesn't matter where your cock is positioned on half cock. As.long as it is functional and properly safe you are good to go.

with a flintlock it is best that the cock sits in half cock in a position that presents the flint correctly in relation to the frizzen and eventually the pan.
there is some fudging on where the flint is in relation to the pan, but it's relation to the face of the frizzen is necessary for optimum spark.

with caplocks there are as many positions as there are locks it seems. i have one that at half cock covers the nipple so close i have to draw it back almost to full cock to put a cap on the nipple.
another one the half cock fools me, i think it is full cocked.
need to work on both someday. anybody know what day of the week is someday?

My GPR is like this...cannot put a cap on the nipple at half cock. You'd think that would be a very simple thing for a manufacturer to check and correct....but Noooooo.
