SOLD Half Stock Gibbs/Rigby Style Flintlock 40 Caliber Rifle - SPF

I have the below pictured rifle for sale. It was built by me and completed in March of this year. It is a combination of the Gibbs/Rigby style of rifles and handles extremely well.

The stock is Grade #4 Sugar Maple finished with aquafortis and various oils/finishes. The barrel is a Colerain, round bottom rifling, .40 caliber, 13/16" across the flats, 34" long, with a 6 groove 1-48" twist and .016 deep cut rifling. The lock is a Chambers Late Ketland with a Chambers White Lightin 5/16-32 touch hole. The single trigger is a modified Bivins and is light, clean and crisp. The weight is under 7 lbs and the LOP is approx. 13 1/2". The front sight is a TOW # FS-PA-37-I and the rear is a TOW #RS-G-354-14.

I am asking $1,600 plus fully insured shipping in a wooden crate via the USPS. I estimate the shipping to be around $75 east of the big river and about $95 out west. I accept USPS Money Orders or I can take a credit/debit card with the 3.5% fee added if you call me.

Just tapping away. Love it. Tell me have you not got into checkering I find it a struggle with my hand made tools it more difficult than you think, I guess thinking long rifles did not have checkering , unlike target modern rifles My pal Roy just bought this unmentionable I should not mention price but it came through Holts auction at £2100 via a dealer probably then £3000

Not so sure about that Bruce , my thoughts were “ why did two people 3000 miles apart decide to build a flintlock on a design of Gibbs target rifle I really wanted that Gibbs at Holts auction, but £2700 I could normally view it , play with it, but it’s all on line with Colvid the last thing on my mind was publicity , rather strike up a conversation on this magic rifle. In essence it was probably a kit rifle with bits and barrel from Birmingham gun quarter made up in Bristol , who made the stock is lost in history It’s a fascinating accurate rifle , but why!!!!! The whitworth target rifle should have been better ,but why again did we chose it for a long rifle , with a flint lock action. Mine being left handed from eBay usa My only coment was should yours have a ramrod , that being carried in a sling over the shoulder, but in practise it fits well on your rifle , Just a picky comment , I could drone on for hours. Hope we chat again till then I wish you well lovely rifle you have made and bold on your part for choosing a British long range target rifle for.your design. I do hope we get a feed back from the lucky buyer as to how well it shoots at long range
