I wanted to share a rifle I recently finished with you all. I don’t know what to call it, maybe an old mans gun. It’s a maple half stock in .45 caliber, it has a 36”-13/16” octagon to round tapered barrel. The hardware I got in a bundle of parts I bought so I don’t know exactly what they are. It’s got a poured pewter nose cap and the lock is an L&R manton. It’s a nice light weight rifle and shoots pretty good. I’m really happy with the way this one turned out. Tell me what you think, good or bad. Thanks for looking Tony

It looks like something I'd build, an assembly of spare parts that could have been built at any time in the past. You do nice work. The only thing I might suggest is to round off the cast forend some. If it were mine I'd round the front of the forend to match the nice radius on the rear of it. But then, it's not mine.

I love everything about that rifle. The styling, the barrel length, the stock figure....everything. If I could have a “perfect” rifle, it would be very much like that. Very well done!

Around here along the Mississippi River we would call a rifle such as the one you, @tlallijr, built a Tlallijr Special. Plenty to be proud of in the building of a rifle such as you have built. Its not so much as how it looks but how does it shoot? There were a lot of rifles built along the Mississippi River to be shot at various matches in the 1950's through the 1980's that were built from miscellaneous collections of parts from various rifles.

You are keeping an old tradition of rifle building going.

Looks to me with mantons name on it you have what we call a deer park rifle on this side of the pond .So called as they were first built to take the park deer in the large estates . I always thought a lot must have made their way to the states as they were a handy size

A truly elegant, well-crafted rifle. There is a certain beauty in its simple lines.

Do have plans available?
