Hammer position while hunting with a percussion rifle

Hammer down on cap. Sometimes with leather betwixt.

In a fall the odds of percussion are minimal. At half cock in a fall some percussion is available should the half cock notch fail :hatsoff:

Yup, the leather falls when and if the gun is cocked. Treat 'em all like they're loaded with a hair trigger.
