Hand made shot pouch and short starter

The shot pouch came out a little bigger than I wanted, just won't fill it that's all. Wanted one to hold about 10 ounces of shot, this one hold about 30. Leather is cowhide with a welp in the bottom and antler spout carved hour glass shape so it won't slip in or out. Stitched with waxed linen thread and plugged with a carved cherry stopper. The overall size is nice at 6" long by 5" wide. Fits in my shoulder bag like a glove. :grin:

Yee-Haa, the joys of using your own custom built accoutrements. :winking:

Great lookin stuff. :thumbsup: Gave me an idea for another short-starter. Curious, is there a dimple for the ball to fit into on one end of the horn handle? GW

On this one I didn't put a dimple, would be easy enough to do though.

My patch and ball combo load fairly easy, I just use the short starter from the get go.

You do have that tallent all you have to do is try. The old timers didn't have the luxery of ordering from someone else they made it themselves, and you can too. If it doesn't look like factory new that's ok its "primitive" as long as it works who cares it's made for you by you and at least you can say that you tried rather than send good money to someone else. Save that money for powder flints and caps.
