I have for your consideration a leather buckskin color rough on both sides hand painted xl war shirt with horse hair fringe and trade beads. All the fringe was hand cut. The shirt was constructed with faux sinew using a whip stitch. Stitching is flawless. It was hand painted using traditional native powder pigment paints. In the center below the rosette is a glass ambassador trade bead, it is a reproduction but an old reproduction I am told from 1905. The horse hair tassel with tin cone features 8mm French pony beads that have since been discontinued, they are followed up with a cranberry glass pony beads that have. All being a very old style. The leather is 3.5 oz deer tanned cowhide. in a brain tan style and rough on both sides. Crazy crow calls is “moccasin tanned leather.” The sizing measurements are 32”long, 30” from neck to sleeve, and approximately 52” in circumference in the waist/belly area, but is an oversized XL size. Fitting more like a tunic. I am asking $510 plus $25 shipping. Price is non negotiable, no trades. I accept PayPal friends and family, usps money order, cash, or personal check. Will ship to the lower 48 U.S only. Thanks.

Each war shirt is uniquely different, some awarded in battle, some of those awards were told in a story and painted on the shirt. This story (of my creation) is of a young brave who killed a white man in battle, the top left shows the amount of travel his horse made for this battle. 5 arrows were commenced and the white man was not able to get a shot off with his rifle. The younge brave was killed in battle by the flathead tribe and was gifted at rendezvous to the family of the fallen white man who turned out to be a young trader for the American fur company. Any way, that’s my story and I’m sticking to it. Care to elaborate as you wish. Now about pigment paints, these are a natural powder that is mixed with egg whites and water and painted on the leather, it is permanent, but fragile, if worn at a voo it will definitely get a rubbed patina look, many museum originals show this after heavy use. Traditionally, robin eggs, yucca, cactus, fish glue, hide glue were used as binders, I didn’t feel like hunting for robin eggs so chicken egg whites were used. I will ship it carefully wrapped in a plastic bag inside a box.
