I have no issue with BP revolvers. Im just pointing out that OP said that this was supposed to be “the muzzleloader “forum, and revolvers are not muzzleloaders. So there is some ambiguity. I don’t own any conversions and just skip that part usually. Unless someone is using them to prove that open frames are stronger...I like those threads.

And the earth is flat !!!!!!!!!!! 😄

When we join this forum , we are supposed to agree to obey whatever rules the owner of the site imposes. These can be found with a little looking, but the ones relevant to this discussion are:
#8 - percussion revolvers are permitted even though they don't load at the muzzle
#10 - conversion cylinders and metallic cartridges are not to be discussed

It seems like #10 has either been eliminated, or the owner/moderators don't care about it anymore. It would be good if they clarified this.
Also, some of the posts are pretty unpleasant or downright nasty, this also is not supposed to happen.
I enjoy messing around with muzzle loading rifles, pistols, and revolvers and this site is active and interesting, but lately the handgun section seems to get taken over by....... well, I don't know what to call it.
Too bad

I thought this was "The Muzzleloading Forum." Why are so many threads going way off-topic and discussing cartridge conversions that have nothing to do with OP's questions. I ask a question relative to a topic and it's just run over by the cartridge boys. Doesn't seem like there's any administrative control.

I give up and, if that's what this Forum is about - I'm out.
Spinner, I understand what you mean but its also too easy to be too strict.
I was on a FB group but quit after getting time-out twice in a month.
Once for posting a picture from Uberti website that had a price listed (broke rule about selling arms. WTF. I wasn’t selling anything).
Second time for mentioning my Ruger Single Six in a thread about cartridge conversions (rule about no modern firearms. as opposed to aconverted cartridge pistol)
Those admins were so uptight you couldn’t drive a pin up their butt with a sledgehammer.
Quit that group, too much walking on eggshells.

No conversations have begun about cartridge guns but in a discussion about percussion guns, when their relative strength is brought into question, it's the only direction it can go and end at the truth. There are no threads about cartridge guns but do we need to pretend they don't exist when the information is relevant?

I have twice mentioned a cartridge gun in threads. The only reason I did so was to make a point about the topic under discussion based on personal experience. I did not do it to derail the thread or bring in a topic on suppository arms.
There are a great many things common to both types of guns and if you are trying to learn about one of them it is foolish to ignore information based on the location of the priming compound. Gun fit, for example, does not care about lock type.

Those are things to be brought up to the owner or moderators - the rules just say no conversion cylinders or metallic cartridges are to discussed. The threads that are being objected to have gone completely over to that stuff. Other people have been reprimanded or had their comments deleted for doing that - if the current thinking is to allow it, the site should say so. In that case, people who are only interested in traditional black powder muzzle loaders might want to find another place.

Relax, it ain't turning into a generic gun forum. Forums that put more emphasis on stringent adherence to arbitrary rules rather than the quality of the experience don't last long either. This complaint thread just added to the pile.

Bottom line, to reiterate again, is that the relative strength of the percussion guns comes into question. Blackpowder doesn't stress the guns enough to make a difference, or reveal a weakness. There's no way to accurate and comprehensively answer those questions without referencing the cartridge conversions. Note the discussions weren't about them in general but only how it relates to their strength.

See the final comment by moderator in the topic about the Uberti Rem. carbine, then look at the comments on the thread about "appropriate cylinder gap for Colt revolvers".
I suppose there's a reason for that. The stuff I don't like is the sometimes nasty, personal attack sort of comments.
