Hardware?

Just started building chests and boxes for late 1700s and 1800s. What is the best source for period hardware. I just ordered handles from a company that claimed to be period correct -- looked great except they came with what looked like drywall screws.
Are there good period patterns out there?

You might try Gail Potter at The Museum of The Fur Trade at Chadran, Nebraska.

www.thetrunkshoppe.com can fix you up with anything you need for period trunks, boxes, etc..

Vandykes Restorers is another good source...

Steve Lalioff also wrote a great article on trunk making in one of the Books of Buckskinning - good resource for some excellent pics of originals...
