I wasn't aware that that was a real part of the story. I just assumed it was hollywood.
You can go to Red Lodge Montana and see his restored cabin at the historical center there.
They also have his 1886 Winchester in the little museum there from when he was sheriff of Red Lodge.
Or they did anyway. It's been quite a few years since I passed through there.
