Haversack with Veg Tanned Flap and Hudson Bay Motif, scrimshawed powder horn, patch knife
Here is a new haversack style/forage bag I handmade, “inspired” by the late 18th and early 19th century hunting accoutrement and decorated with hand painted artwork. My bags are a combination of both traditional and contemporary designs. The bag is made from a heavy weight black wool fabric and fully lined with a double interior pocket. All hand-stitching done with natural linen and hemp beeswaxed thread. The flap is a rustic veg tanned leather with a motif of the Hudson’s Bay Company folk art painting.
The bag measures 10x12 with a 52” heavy cotton striped strap dyed in walnut hulls.
The powder horn is scrimshawed with a folk art sun and heart motif. It is suspended with an adjustable leather strap to be worn on either hip.
The knife is a secured to the back of the bag. It has a handmade leather sheath and is a basic patch style steel knife.
This would make a wonderful addition for anyone into Muzzleloading…hunting…reenacting...or as a beautiful art wall hanging decor.
