Here is a hawk and patch knife set I made

on the wood it's light saddle tan leather dye, and BLO and mineral spirits then paste wax and buff on floppy wheel
 
What type of steel did you use on both!

If your going to use it for throwing. I would suggest a straight grain handle with no knots in it, like this one seems to have.
 
Beautiful, both. But that handle won't last long at all if you throw it. Fancy grain and a big knot are bad news. Plus, at events, the fancier the handle the more the idiot handle hunters will throw at it. Put on display and make another not so fancy but sturdier.
 
no it has a tang that goes up though the handle but is hidden. The knife has such a small profile it was the only way I could secure it
 
Thank you for the concern but this is not for throwing. I use a plain old crazy crow hawk for that
