Does anyone have a Hawken style adjustable-ladder,sight on there rifle? I was thinking of putting one on my Hawken rifle. I had cataract surgery and now I see great but, my rear sight is to far forward,It looks blurry now. I need a new sight any ideas

Shoots good too. (I can't see for squat with traditional sights.)

Have you gone to the local drug store (or .99 cent store)?
They have "reading glasses" at a fairly cheap price and those may be just what you need.

Try the lowest diopter number they have by looking at things that are 2-5 feet away from you.

The low diopter numbers won't make distant things blurry like the high diopter numbers will.

Not only will they help with your sighting but the lens are usually made out of a plastic that is tough enough to stop any cap or flint fragments from hitting you in the eye.

Sorry Rogue, I'm not really sure who made or sold that sight. I bought it many, many years ago and it sat unused in a box of parts until recently when I put it on that gun. It has no/zero/zip markings or numbers anywhere on it.

A fellow on another forum said he thought it was a sight made or sold by Thompson Center back when they first produced their Hawken and Renegade models, but I just don't know. It did fit the TC factory holes in the tang perfectly (the tang with the regular two screws plus a threaded hole between them with a filler screw in it). I'd love to find another one myself.

I put one on a rifle I built to raise the line of sight higher over the barrel. I was getting a mirage effect in the sight picture due to the barrel heating up and the sights being too low. I installed a taller front sight and a stepped rear sight. I think it only raised the line of sight about 1/8" but the difference was amazing. Turned that rifle into a tack driver instantly. Bill

This was from Track of the Wolf?

Or are you meaning this type?

It is form TC and no longer made but you can still find new ones.

This one from Track of the Wolf moves the sight back about 3 inches if you mount it where the TC sight was.

Hello

Will the TOTF long Hawken rear sights
fit on the CVA Hawken?

Cheers,Rob

I don't see why you couldn't make it work! It might take a little fitting but I don't see anything major.

I don't have a CVA but if it has a dovetail it is probably silly-meters. The ones I have seen are slightly under 3/8" so I think you could fit a 3/8" dovetail sight to your rifle.

TC sold that vernier sight for a while. I do not know if they made it though. I would like to find out who made it. I have been looking to buy one for a while. I found a fellow who had two-so I bought them both. However one needs a couple of parts so I would like to find out who made the vernier so I could order the parts to complete the sight. I have also seen a couple more for sale on E-bay for around $100.

You can buy a true ladder style with or without a peep from Skinner sights. He made me one for my Marlin 1894. I would post a picture of it, but it is not on an MZ, so I do not want to make anybody mad by posting pictures of a non-MZ. Tom.
