The only turkeys we have are in Ottawa my friend but we have grouse and little bush bunnies and little red squirrels.lol
Then grouse and bunnies and red squirrels it is!
I've had good luck with moderate loads of fffg in my 20 bore. I have a couple 24 bore barrels I need to finish.

Have you tried just three thin cards?

If you are economising for your needs, I'd look at dropping the charge some more.
Even use 4f and less of it.
How many shots at game do you anticipate to shoot a year?

Well so much for spell check,I’m not that good of a flintlock shooter and worse at spelling.I thought I’d get a few comments about my shooting in stead you choose to pick apart my bad spelling go figure .
I can assure you we all make mistakes sooner or later. I use to have to (wright, rite, write) pick one, every day to report on how things were going. I made mistakes practically every day. I also kept a dictionary close by, no cell phones back then. LOL!

Sorry if I sound a bit crass but when you try to understand what some people are trying to say with misspelled words or incomplete sentences it gets annoying. It only takes a few seconds to re-read what you have written before you post it. If English is not your primary language, then I can understand but most of you do read, write and speak English and can use modern technology - computers, cell phones and the like. I will get off my soap box now and finish my coffee - have a great day!:ghostly::ThankYou:

Yes I’ve tried 3 thin cards and. That short little barrel does not like them but does better with wasp nest for some reason unknown to me .Ive tried less powder but it does nut do well on the tin can test.So far my best grouping is with cornmeal on top of the powder .I could try try 45 grains of 3f again I suppose and see how it does as long as it penetrates the tin can sufficiently I guess .

Good ole hornets nest !! LOL ... I know ( or is it I no ) I keep repeating it but I'm just amazed at the groups you are getting from that 26" barrel ! My groups from my 40" are for sh!t LOL !! Can't wait to see what you can do with that gun your gonna make with a 36" barrel .

I’m pretty “shore” “ewe” “spelt” sh!t wrong. 🤣

How about "Here is one more" instead of your bad spelling of " Hears one more" --- o_O:rolleyes::oops::horseback:

I appreciate Walt's systematic reporting of his load research and results. Keep up the good work!
Thanks Billy but I was hoping to get a few more comments than I did but I will eventually get something I’m looking for I hope .

Ok in that case I suggest upping the shot but keep the powder the same.
The reasoning is to make the powder work harder and thus be more consumed before the muzzle. Partly why I like 4f.

I know you dont want to use more shot but if its not shot everyday you may not notice the extra consumption.
