Do you know anything on the steel? Dimensions, thickness, ...?

.16 thick,full tang.Looks like carbon steel to me.

No way that you can test it to make sure if it is carbon steel?

Not really.Maybe leave it out in the weather,but I wouldn't do that.It could be stainless,I just don't know.I don't talk to the guy that makes them.The handle looks like micarta.He builds the knives tough like a tank.Sorry I wasn't much help.

Put a few drops of vinegar on it and let it set for a day. If it's S/S noithing will happen. If it's Carbon, the spots will turn black. Don't worry you can steel wool them off and if it's carbon it won't matter anyway? I can pretty much bet from looking that it's S/S., I'd recommend doing the vinegar on the top of the spine close to the handle just in case if the thought of it bothers you?

Another test is that stainless isn't magnetic. If a magnet won't stick, it's not stainless.

For sure if a magnet won't stick it is not carbon steel however a magnet will stick to 440C stainless.

A magnet will stick to 304 S/S too. A magnet will stick to ANY S/S that has traces of Iron, Carbon, or Nickel in it.
Not sure how much help that is? If a magnet sticks to it, it can still be S/S, you just can't Blue it and it won't rust as quickly or as severely as true 100% S/S like 316L.
I spent some time working with all kinds of S/S back in the 70's. I learned that "it" has some strange properties depending on what grade/composition it is? In order to make a decent Knife blade, S/S has to contain some % of Carbon so it can be heat treated. That's why 440C is used a lot. The "C" denotes that it contains Carbon and is capable of being hardened. Again...hope this helped in some manner. Truthfully, without a full laboratory analysis of the steel, you'll never know for sure exactly what it is?
