Hello All, I’ve been hunter since I was 12- nearly 50 years back. Started with a Bear bow, rabbits mostly. Bought a T/C Hawken .54 percussion and hunted with it for many years. My brother also gave me his .50 T/C Hawkin flintlock, but I never shot it. Recently I bought a Kibler Southern Mountain Rifle kit, but haven’t started it yet. So I have many questions ‘bout these kinda guns and expect to do a lot of listen in’ before I do much talkin’

Welcome, my first real bow was a Bear too and it was mostly used for rabbits and the occasional very unlucky duck.

Thank you. Ahhh ducks were safe from me, never saw any close enough to shoot, but there were a few pheasants that I lost arrows to. So, you shoot a .40 cal?

The caliber number under a poster’s name indicates a range of how many posts he/she has made. You will see that you have “.32 Cal.” because you have more than a couple and less than 100 posts currently. I think at 100, it goes to .36 Cal. I show as “.45 Cal.” because I have 843 posts (I think .45 is for 500 to 1000 posts.). Colonial Boy has “.40 Cal” because he has 439 posts. There is a chart posted on here, somewhere, that explains the levels. But, just when you think you know “what’s what,” some long-time members have a different designation than their post counts would suggest, for some unknown reason.
