Just joined in the forums and figured I'd say hello to everyone. My buddy just took me out two days ago and let me shoot his Hawkens; it was love at first shot. I don't know how I made it this far; all 26 years of my life, without trying black powder. it was a literal BLAST!!!

Now, for the past two days I have been scouring the net looking for a kit to build a similar Hawkens at a reasonable cost. I look forward to going to some competitions and getting the feel of this new rush of life .

Well just wanted to say hello for now, look forward to conversing with everyone here, have a great day.

Chris

Welcome! You'll find about all the info you need to get started here. By the way, my GGGG Granddaddy got married in Bedford back in 1801. My family came here from Franklin Co. after the "Wah".

cellis242001 : A Big Welcome To The Camp ! !

Glad you found us. There's alot of places that sell kits
in the Hawken style rifle. Then you need to know if you
want percussion or flintlock. There's alot of good folks
here that can direct you in which style is better. :front:

Then you can decide. So pull up a log and get
something warm to drink and enjoy yourself.
Again Welcome, and we'll see you around the
camp fires.
Take Care, :) Mtn-Man2u

Welcome to the forum. Be careful Charcoal, sulfur, and salt-peter mixed in the right combinations can be addictive.

Howdy back at ye cellis! Naw, they left some of that liquid corn for ya'll. They spilt half of what they took on Flat Top Mt. on the way over here. Been in a bad mood since. I hope you're a findin' everything ye need here. They's plenty to be had. I ain't been in the Bedford area for a while, hope to get back over that way before too long. Got any good places to shoot at over thar? Welcome again, and have a good'un yerself!

KanawhaRanger, I'm finding everything okay so far on the site. There is definitely a lot to learn here. Come on down to Bedford, you probably know as well as I do that nothin much changes round here. :haha: I have not found any good ranges so far, but my buddy lets me come over and shoot on his farm for now. I can't pick at cha' too much about old WVA. my family is originally from around Mingo County. We must of just traded places. Good shootin' to you all.

Chris

Why hello there! Yet another Virginia Gentleman. Welcome to the forum!!

Yep, black powder is really something else. I've played with all sorts of guns including full auto but smokepoles beats them all. :front:
