Hi everyone.

I'm new to Muzzle loading and looking to benefit from all the advice I can find from those who know better!

I live in Staffordshire, which is in the middle of England. By trade I'm an Accountant, and in the past have had the pleasure of working in the U.S. (Detroit). I'm married, with 2 grown up kids and four Grandkids.

I am currently waiting for my Firearms Certificate, which can take a few months here, so I am itching to get my own rifle and pistol.

At the moment I shoot at good club, using the club guns for most things. And in preparation I have bought a Lee Prod Pot and started melting my own lead. Once I know that the calibers I have applied for have been approved, I can start casting my own ball and boolits.

Anyhoo, bit of a ramble just to say 'Hi' :)

Hello Frank, good to meet you. I will be interested in your progress toward a firearm acquisiton. Are M/Lers readily available there? Emery

Hi Emery,

Firearms in general are not too bad once you have your Certificate, though the price is generally higher than you guys in the States pay. Choice is also limited. Black Powder shooting seems to be a growth area, though Suppliers are not really keeping up with demand and I am expecting to have to hunt around (and wait) for a decent rifle. Revolvers are much easier to get hold of.
As everything is imported, given the weak state of sterling, prices have gone up by about 30 - 40% over the last year.

Welcome to the forum from Flint Mich. Feel free to use this forum for answers. There is someone here who has the answers, both builders and shooters as well as collectors. I only hope you know what kind of disease you have. My other hope is I am never cured. Keep yur powder dry. Len

Glad to see another Brit here. There aren't many of us!

Welcome to the MLF! There are a bunch of friendly knowlegable folks here to help you along when you need it. I got to meet and visit with a group of muzzleloaders from England a couple of years ago at the 1838 Rendezvous in Wyoming. They were a great group who really enjoyed themselves.

:hatsoff: Welcome aboard Frank. Glad to see that you found us. The members here will help you over any rough spots that you may encounter. Looking forward to reading your posts. Remember, we're like little children here, we just love to look at pictures(so photo's are always a plus). Vern
