I have to own up, I would not dare put powder in my pieces. I would be mortified if I wrecked something that has survived so long. When my father acquired his London Navy in the 30s, he found it was still loaded. He put on fresh caps and unloaded it the quick way - down on the range.

In 1976 we sold all the firearms that needed a certificate as it was getting difficult keeping the police happy having a collection on their patch. An Iver Johnson could not be sold until it had been proved. It failed disastrously, no more Iver Johnson I was quite upset.

So, I research and preserve but no bangs or smoke.

Welcome from Frost Bite, MN. Some of my ancestors were from Northumbria, Those that weren't hanged ( probably firearms related), came here in the early 19 th century. Our shared interests cover continents and the lapse of ages. I’m interested in hunting you may conduct there. Again, welcome.,
