Hey everyone just wanted to post a brief hello and to introduce myself. I'm originally from Pittsburgh but moved to outside of Philly after I met my now wife. I have been shooting since I was 8. Now I collect military surplus and just got into black powder recently with the acquisition of a pietta 1858 new model army. I'm quite interested in building a left handed flintlock

In shooting any of my modern rifles I have been able to adapt and even master using right hand rifles. Bolt action no problem. I even feel faster than most righties but that pan being against my face doest make me feel the best.

"...but that pan being against my face doesn't make me feel the best." Do you have a full beard? Or long hair?

Welcome. You've come to the right place. (Sorry you had to leave Westsylvania and move to Philly. She must be some woman!)

I wouldn't say my hair is that long. I have an undercut so the bottom is shaved and the top get pomade and slicked back so there is beeswax in there

She is a wonderful woman. Treats me quite well. Hell for Christmas she bought me a type 53

I wood have to agree that shooting a righty bolt action is a bit faster for me as well, and a real asset when shooting from a rest. I shot a righty flintlock and the flash is pretty close to your face. I built my self a lefty southern mountain rifle and I love it to death. I am also working on a sort of "parts bin" gun, a left handed English fowler stocked in cherry.
