Hello to everyone,
I am a 22 year Army Cavalry Scout retiring this summer. My son bought me a lyman plains pistol kit for christmas and in researching blackpowder how to's, stumbled upon Mountain man/Trapper reenacting. I found it very exciting so I finished her in brown and gave her a dark walnut stain and boiled linseed oil seal. I have put about 125 rounds through her so far and can't wait to put a hundred more. I have been behind modern weapons that would make most men jealous (machine guns, cannons, missile launchers, grenade launchers etc) but I don't think I have ever had as much fun as this little .50 cal smoke belcher gives me. I am heading to my first mountain man Rendezvous tomorrow just south of Olympia WA. I hope to get a Lyman Plains Rifle sometime later this year to round out my weapons. My father in Florida just told me he started a pistol kit back in the late 60s but never finished it. He said he would dig it out of the shed and send it to me. I can't wait to see what kind it is. I look forward to reading everyones posts and learning more about this facinating new world of old fashioned shooting.
