P.S.: There was a club called Desert Marksmen who shot at their range south of Palmdale. They had an NRA-style Silhouette Match that was a Hoot to Shoot! Not to mention their Rendezvous in March.
 
Mojave (the town) is about an hour SW from here. Mojave (the desert) is in all directions. Definitely no shortage of places to shoot.
Did a stint at a little place called Hawes A.S. some time ago, myself. And mapping rocks in Blythe. Lovely little desert, I think.
