Hi all,
I joined last week but did not have a chance to sign on and introduce myself. I was actually away where I had a chance to fire my muzzleloader for only the second time.
I have a Hawken .50 cal that I built from a kit.
Took it out with a group of friends...modern gun enthusiasts who had never fired a muzzleloader before. They were luke-warm about it at first. I guess if you handle modern semi-autos a lot, you might not get jazzed about a rifle that fires one round at a time.
However, after loading and firing their first round, attitudes changed. I'm not sure if it was the manual nature of the loading process, that little bit of trepidation before squeezing the trigger ("did I do this right?"), or the satisfying kick. But it was a good time.
Muzzleloading firearms is all still new to me, so I joined this group to learn more.
