Am new to muzzleloading and am a history buff in general. Took the New Jersey hunter education course and passed the rifle and shotgun tests. Am learning though that it's very difficult to find places to shoot black powder in my county, Morris. Hope to find some help in the forums and meet new friends.

Welcome to New Jersey and to the forum. You might try some of the WMA ranges as there are few clubs that I know of. I think there is a blackpowder club in north Jersey with a website.

Smoking .50 is a member of several clubs in Central NJ. Shongum Sportsmen's Association in Hackettstown also has BP shoots, and you don't need to be a member to take part.

Send me a PM with your email address and I'll send you info on the Garden State Black Powder Association. We have our monthly shoots and meetings up in Vernon. In fact, our next event is this Sunday.

Also, if you'd like we can get together to shoot sometime. I'm in Warren County, and I shoot fairly often at the Clinton WMA range.

Depending on when and where you took hunter education, I may have been one of the muzzleloader instructors.
