You are absolutely correct. Nothing exists outside NY City. If your from NYC or LI, anything past White plains, is "upstate". But if you're actually upstate, Rockland county isn't upstate.its because too most of the world if your from n.y. you are a city boy. they dont see the rest of our very large state.
