Your in the right place,nothing but traditional BP/ML. White River you are for sure out there in the country,I did a Google Earth search,lots of hunting country around you,,my kind of "city" Come often, stay late and enjoy.

Thanks- I live in great hunting country. The town I live in is the county seat with a population of 500 
Lots of mixed grasslands, badlands and forested river valleys. I've taken good Mule deer, White Tail deer, and pronghorn locally. We even have elk moving in but I have not drawn a tag for them yet.
It is extremely hard to get a muzzleloader tag in South Dakota. Its taken me 7 years to draw my first buck tag but I have taken plenty of does with my smokepoles. I also do rifle of course (with a custom 98 mauser) and archery (traditional) lol!
I'm looking forward to learning from others. Around here inlines are the game of the few who do muzzleloader.

Thanks everyone, already lots of good advice on the percussion forum. Glad to talk with other folks who love old smokepoles.
Oh here's my deer from this year for those asking about hunting in my area: (although taken with rifle so slightly off topic). I'm still working on getting my buck with my muzzleloader this year

Good to hear from you- sorry slow response, just noticed your response.
In addition to black powders I like to fix up old (more modern rifles). That is a turkish mauser I fixed up myself. Did my own bluing, stock from boyd's, some other mods by gunsmith. It can hold dime sized groups at 100 yards with the military barrel, so no complaints.
Only problem is rifle is getting to the point it does not have as much challenge. Thinking of going more muzzleloader and archery this next year to up the challenge!

Welcome, this is definitely the place to be. I may reside in Vt. but my brother has spent the last 30 years in SD. and just retired from the state parks dept. You'll not regret joining this group.
