Hey all,
Through a recent deal with family I came into possession of a Pedersoli 32 Cal Kentucky flintlock. Thought I would try to step in to the flintlock world. I’ve read through many conversations on the form as far as general shooting tip, priming and tuning. I have shot it a few times But I’m not achieving consistent sparks.
Wondered if one of you hard-core Kentucky flinters would like to come to the farm to school me on fitlocks. Also maybe hunt a few squirrels?
I live in Garrad County with the Lancaster address. I live just north of the intersection of 34 and 27.

Hi Aaron, and congratulations on the new flintlock! I've had a number of these Italian jobs and thus far, have never seen one run like it should without quite a bit of adjustment and fine tuning. I have found them to be good rifles once properly lined out, though. I live in Brooks, Ky (about 15 min south of Louisville and about an hour and a half's drive from you) and will help out however I can. Been shooting flint almost exclusively for about thirty years now and can generally get one going without too much effort. Shoot me a PM if you'd like and we'll see what we can do...

While the Pedersoli rifles are well made and have very good barrels they are still cursed with inconsistent flint locks. Some of the locks will be excellent while some aren't at all dependable. The geometry is often at fault but they can be coaxed, most of the time, to become reliable.

So ghostdncr,
I tried starting a “conversation” with you but it won’t let me! Am I doing something wrong?
Aaron
