I have a kentucky style pistol, it is percussion with a drum and nipple. It has a brass rifled barrel. (Yep a magnet will not stick) After using both my glasses and a magnafying glass, I was able to get this off the barrel flat:
Black powder only, Caliber 44, XX9 PN
on the tang which is also brass, is stamped in very small letters:
PEDERSOLI and under that DAV (Davide Pedersoli, I know)
Then is what appears to be a serial number is uneven hand stamped numbers 10658, under that are two more letters/numbers thaat I cn't make out. It does have the regular Italian proof marks, as well. I have had this gun about 20 to 25 years and got it used, I don't even recall where I got it.
I have searcched the old catalogues I have and can find no mention of a repro brass barreled pistol. The lock seems well made and is case colored. Even the trigger plate is case colored.
