I recently purchased a Pedersoli Jaeger rifle and the had difficulty with the set trigger from the get go. It was a used rifle, not sure how the original owner like the trigger pull but I hated it, so I tried to adjust, and my final solution was to actually remove the silly thing which made the set trigger pull exactly what I wanted. I don't like set triggers, never have and never will, but some times you simply have to take what comes. I don't know if the trigger on your rifle is greatly different from mine seeing as both were made by the same folks, but you might give this a try, just remove the screw and see how the lock functions, just don't loose the silly thing.
