Hi Everyone,

I’m helping an old friend of mine trying to identify the lock out of one of his rifles so he find a new mainspring, which has broken.

The only identifying mark we can find is on the inside of the lock which is ’JJ’. The story with the rifle is it was built in the 70’s from parts here in Australia. Thats about the only info I’ve got on it.

Going by what we can find in photos on the net, we think it’s very similar to a Siler Lock made by Jim Chambers.

Can anyone shed some light on the lock maker, so we can sort out a new mainspring to get the lock going again?

Cheers!

Anthony

It looks like a small Siler to me. Without dimensions, it is a guess.
Does your friend have a spring vice? It will help when installing the new mainspring. Less chance of breaking the new mainspring.
Thanks for the reply. My friend has been using an old TOW catalogue which has ‘exact actual size’ marked on the illustrations. I’ve only just found this out when I mentioned about the dimensions to him

I'm looking at one of them right now...I have no idea what it is.
