Hi - New to the board.
I just acquired this model 1777 flintlock pistol. This piece has been extensively cleaned to the point that all of the original markings on the barrel and tang are gone, save what I believe to be the barrel manufacture date (S 79). The C over 32 on the barrel tang has me stumped. My guess is that it is a later-stamped serial number of some sort. I don't think this is original to the gun. There is also a C with a number (1?) on the inner face of the trigger guard. The lock face is marked F over 80, which I believe is the date of acceptance (1780). Of the other proof/inspection stamps, I have no idea. If anyone can shed any light on these markings, or can point me to an approrpriate reference, I would be most appreciative.
