Helping a kid out

Hey all, I thought you might find this interesting. I have been helping out a young man while his father is working away from home. I have brought him shooting for some time and now he wants a gun of his own. I have been looking for a nice simple Hawken style for him to get him started. Well, to make a long story short, I actually was able to find a near new condition Harpers Ferry along with a TC Hawken with a Lyman Peep sight. :thumbsup: Get this. Both for $300.00. :shocked2: :hatsoff: When I talked to him (and his parents of course), he decided on the Harpers Ferry. :thumbsup: Well, I took him shooting with the new rifle the next day, he did very well with it and actually put three out of four shots in the black at 50 yds. Almost felt bad letting him have the Harpers Ferry as it really was an almost new gun. But, to see how excited he was shooting it was price enough.

Anyway, I think we have a new shooter to the fold.

Thanks everyone for the kind replies. :v He is still excited about it and was even asking if he could compete in our upcoming State Shoot in a couple of weeks. I told him of course he could. At this point, I'm just trying to get him to get used to the gun and find her "quirks" as well as starting him out with all of the accessories. All he has is the gun but I shoot a .54 smoothie so he will borrow my items until he gets his own. I think I'm just as excited as he is helping him out. Does make you fel good though. :thumbsup:

Awesome...I love getting kids into shooting and hunting... In 09 I took 4 kids hunting and they killed 9 deer...nothing like seeing a kid kill their first deer or hit their target for the first time. Hat off to ya... I wanna know where ya find a Harpers Ferry for $150????
