It weren't a car nor a flood. You'd hafta drive WAY off the road across a cornfield and thru 75 yards of timber to get to this old cedar tree. There is a creek down the hill but Noah would be busy buildin' another boat by the time the water ever got that high... It's a deer rub. There's tracks at the base. (Deer tracks, NOT tire tracks)

And, yep snake-eyes, that find is gonna be in the back, front and middle of my mind come next season. I got 3 ways figgered how to sneak in there no matter which way the wind is blowin' and started buildin' a ground blind on the next ridge. Gives me a 50 yard shot if the buck shows himself.

I oughta git me one of them trail cameras...

Most likely a wise old veteran and he'll probably never visit that rub in daylight...IMO, the best hope is to try and find the thicket he's living in and spend a lot of time around that area during the rut...hope to catch him sneaking back to his thicket in the gray light of morning...hope you get to see him

I'm gonna try and get out there for some late season squirrel hunting/ deer scouting in a couple weeks. Maybe I'll be lucky enough to get a couple more clues as to where to try and catch up to him.
This was my first year hunting this farm and I don't really know the land real good yet. I really need to scout it some anyway. After the deer season is the best time for scouting too. No leafs in the way, trails easy to see, the deer that are leavin' sign will be there next season...

Helllo
The rub knaw nice rifle... a lyman plains ain't it?
:rotf:
My best regards loyalist Dawg :hatsoff:

That's a big ole boy for sure :hmm: Good luck on your quest. Also, nice rifle gun  what caliber?

Yep, that's a Great Plains Rifle in .54 flint.
Thanks! I was pleasantly surprised when I got it and saw the stock with that curl goin' on. She's a good shooter too!
