Hershel House passed away 6.30pm US time , I only knew him through FB but we had some interesting discussions.
One of the old world Gentlemen who always gave time to others, a quiet humble inspiration to those of us who tarried long enough to appreciate the simple unadulterated genius of the Man.

I'm sure that right now ol Hershel would have shaken St Pete's hand, and been shown to where all the other Master ML makers have been waiting for him; no doubt Hacker Martin et al are smiling and showing him around the heavenly hall of works in progress.

Lets all raise a glass to Hershel and his ilk, for enriching our lives by passing on the healthiest and most respectable Art addiction of all; Black Powder Muzzle Loading firearms and their building and refinement.

I realize this is an old thread but think some of the new folks haven't heard about him.
It's sad that Hershel passed away on January, 10 2024 may he rest in peace. He was a true National treasure in the blacksmithing, gunsmith's and knifesmith's communities. He was truly a master craftsman.
I was fortunate enough to be able to handle & shoot one of his flintlock rifles several years ago.
