Just getting back into muzzle loading. I have a.50 cal renegade and .45 cal CVA Kentucky rifle that my dad built from a kit in the 70's. The .45 shoots like a dream. I also have a box of parts that used to be a 1860 army replica (winter project). Glad to be a part of the muzzle loading nation.

Hey Jerthro, I'm in the Chicagoland area. Up north in a town called Mundelein. Since getting back into the sport I've shot several times in Ottawa. I imagine you're further south. I'm to check out a black powder range in Rockford if I ever find time.

I've been to the Buffalo shooting park twice. Its a two hour drive from me but alot of fun. Love that plinking pit. Its just on the outskirts of town.

:hatsoff: Hey BB, here's a shameless plug for CCKC (Conservation Club of Kenosha County) just north of the cheese border in Bristol. We're about 5 minutes north of highway C & 45. We have a blackpowder range were it's very laid back and most everyone is pretty good about lending a hand to a beginner. Just take 45 north and after you go pass C and have to slow down for Bristol, turn left on to AH and follow the road. After you go through the S curve and pass the swamp, watch to your left. The enterence to the main rifle/pistol/blackpowder range will be just ahead. When you pull into the parking lot, go around and towards the left is the enterence to the Blackpowder / air gun range. It's a gravel road and is only 1 1/2 cars wide so take it easy and just keep following it and watch for the sign, you'll know what I mean when you see it.

Officially the range is closed but as long as the weather isn't too bad, the range may be open depending on if a range officer is back there or not. Come on up and take a look.

I sighted in there once about 15 years ago. I didn't know they had a separate black powder range. Come spring I'll cross the chedder curtain and check it out. Thanks for reminding about it.

Wow all the way from Germany. I visited your country when I was in the Navy. I also when to school with some German sailors at the Naval Gunnery School here in Illinois. Even took one of the guys rabbit hunting. Are there many black powder shooters there? I thought the gun laws were very restrictive. Good to hear from you, you don't even have an accent. :haha: Merry Christmas

I know that range well, and drive by it all the time...got to say it aint quite the same since Sparkey and his crew got blowed up there...but his wife is running it still and it seems to be running well. Glad to hear you shoot there too...
